Horsley Hills is a small and peaceful hill station just about 150 kilometers from Bangalore. I had not heard of it before and was quite excited to explore this new place. And nothing better than going on a bike trip with your pals to this new exciting location.
We started off at 7AM from Bangalore. I was accompanied by 3 more friends, Prashant, Abid and Sudeep, all three of them on their relatively new Royal Enfield Bike whereas I was on my 10yr old Apache 160cc bike. Nevertheless, my favorite ride, all the time.
The drive was smooth and the road condition was nice and as we knew that we did not have much distance to cover, we took it easy and took a lot of stops in between including breakfast stop. We reached the foot of the hills by 11AM. It was just a 10km ride uphill and we got to the top where we checked in to a nice decent budget hotel. There were not much options though as the place in itself is quite small.
We had lunch and then we rested for some time. By evening we went walking around the place. There was a small trail nearby which led us to a nice view point. There were few big rocks over there and we climbed up one of them and perched ourselves at a nice position to view the sunset.
It had a nice view of the surrounding hills and the valley. The sunset view was quite spectacular from there.
After the sunset, we got down from the rocks and walked out a bit more to find a nice open place which also was a sunset view point. It had few nice seating benches laid around and had a nice view over the valley. By the time we reached there, as the sunset was over, the place was empty. The weather had started to get cooler and the chilly winds were brushing our body.
We sat there for some time enjoying the view and the weather and then went back to the hotel where we had a nice yummy dinner.
Next morning we started by 9AM and had breakfast on the way and with few more breaks on the way, we reached Bangalore by 4PM.
Overall, Horsley Hills was a nice decent place to get away from the daily hustle bustle of the city. As this place is less touristic, and also as it does not offer much for sightseeing as well, it is a nice place to just relax and enjoy the peace.
